The Leaky B@@b Tube- NIP with layers and standing

I'm embracing my new found lactivist status by posting a video of me breastfeeding. This is moving beyond the photos, right?

Just some information.

My cup size is around a C give or take depending on how full I am.

I'm not sure why the video is so grainy.

Smunchie is just a few days shy of 8 months in this video and about 16 pounds.

Our adorable shirts come from Paper Mama.

I'm breastfeeding her standing up and would walk around just like this while out.

I am not wearing any clothing specifically designed for breastfeeding, not even my bra.

For this technique to work well, the bottom layer needs to have a stretchy neck-line.

You don't have to show even as much b@@b as I do this way.

That strange positioning thing I do when she's already latched is my bizarre obsession with making sure her ear isn't folded over while she's nursing. I know, really strange.

I don't usually glow like that, this video could be called "The outdoor breastfeeding sauna" thanks to the 100+ temps and over the top humidity. The camera lens kept fogging up. No, seriously.

Our adorable shirts are from Paper Mama.

  1. Great video! Very helpful for a newbie!
I do the same ear thing when my little guy is nursing ti sleep while laying down with his head on my arm. He is so used to me tilting his head up and running my hand along his ear haha

  2. And that is exactly how I NIP. Love it. And everyone around me appreciates it. And Miss. B. doesn't have to go nuts trying to get anything off of her face.

  4. Thanks for posting. Unfortunately the people who are upset by NIP are upset by just the idea, not usually what is showing! Of course, that wouldn't stop me (even the Houston Zoo couldn't stop me!)

  5. Thanks for posting. Its so helpful to see how other BF mommas BF in public. I love the idea of wearing a tank under your clothes to not expose your whole back. New BF mommas like myself need all the tips we can get. Thanks again!

  6. Cute! I wish I could put it all back together that easy- between DD boobs and maneuvering nursing pads to make sure they're not scrunched up, it's a little more of an ordeal over here.

  7. I have trouble with the nursing pads wadding up also. It doesn't matter if they're the cotton or disposable w/ adhesive kind they always end up bunched up! Any ideas on that?

  8. I had a harder time with the disposable dursing pads wadding up, made me crazy. The cloth isn't as difficult but still happens. I find the thicker the cloth pad the less trouble I have. Not sure why. I tuck it under my breast when I pull my bra and bottom layer down and then hook my finger into it when I pull the bra and top layer back up when we're done. Don't know if that made sense but I think that's how I do it, LOL!

  9. It's been years since I nursed. NIP was an oddity back in the late eighties to mid-nineties. I still did it because I was committed to nursing my kids. I think this is an awesome video and I love that young moms are out there in full force giving support to one another.

    Stopping by from SITS.

  11. This made me smile! It's nice to "hear" the voice behind TLB and see you guys in "action" instead of just still shots. Such a great idea to put video out there of how to NIP. Since you don't see it in public as much as you should, mamas need a place to learn.

And I had a total "duh" moment with the tank top. I always thought "how would wearing a tank top under your other shirt make nursing easier? It's just one more layer to fiddle with?" Duh! You pull it down! Seriously...hadn't figured that one out....

  12. Great video! The captions were a little fast... or maybe I'm a little slow :-)

  13. Oh my gosh! Thank you!! I haven't been able to figure out how to do the camis. I've been trying to find really low V-necks so I can pull the cami up through the V. But I've got it now! *Running out find somewhere well populated to nurse*

I need to add your site url to the BF bags, this is the best resource EVER.

  16. My breast pads always got smashed around too. I'd just leave them if it wasn't appropriate to fix right at that moment and wait until I could. Odds are you aren't going to leak much from the breast you just nursed on.

  17. With my daughter, I actually used to do the exact opposite. I wore a tank top underneath, and would pull the tank up on top of my breast, and pull the over shirt down a bit, mostly keeping my over shirt in place...it worked the same in a lot of ways, but I think it was better for me because I am plus size and I am not really comfortable showing my stomach and so I never had to worry about anything riding up :)
